Will the Rock Band 1 instruments work with Guitar Hero 5?

I have the rock band 1 instruments for the PS3 and was planning on getting Guitar Hero 5, will the instruments work with the game?
I know the Rock Band 1 instruments won’t work with Guitar Hero: Smash Hits for some reason.

For ps3, they should, unless there is something wrong with your instruments.
